Today, CodeWeavers released CrossOver 9.1 and CrossOver Games 9.1, its two products for running Windows applications directly in Mac OS X and in Linux, without the use of a Windows OS. The new versions improved support of some Windows business software and add support for more games. The updates also include a newly updated underlying engine, the open source Wine 1.2, which has a long list of changes and bug fixes. CrossOver is focused on running business applications. CrossOver Games is optimized for running Windows games in Mac OS X and Linux.
CrossOver Games 9.1 adds support for several games previously not supported, including StarCraft II, Star Trek Online, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and Alien Swarm. There are also a fixes and improvement for a number of other games, according to CodeWeavers, and general fixes.
CrossOver 9.1 improves support of Microsoft Office 2007 and 2003, as well as Quicken 2010. These include fixing problems with product registration, installation of Microsoft Office service packs, and improved print to PDF. Other fixes include an issue with playing of mp3 files in Media Player 9 and saving documents in Publisher 2003.
The new Wine 1.2 build brings a number of fixes that apply to both CrossOver and CrossOver Games, such as fixing an issue with full-screen mode for Macs with auto-switching GPUs.
CrossOver and CrossOver Games sell for US $40. The updates are free for existing CrossOver customers with an active support entitlement.
