This weekend we launched MacWindows Networking Solutions, which describes third-party products that help integrate Macs and Windows PCs in cross-platform network environments. Readers can compare different products ranging from enterprise systems to personal software, all in one place, to see what might meet their needs. The Network Solutions listings also contain links to the developers' web sites.
The Networking Solutions listings contain software descriptions in several different categories. These include:
- Active Directory/Mac integration solutions
- AFP file/print servers for Mac clients in Windows networks
- File sharing integration solutions that run on Macs
- Groupware: Products related to MS Exchange Server, Entourage Outlook, and alternatives
- Miscellaneous Mac-and-Windows Network Integration tools
- Terminal Emulators (Mac terminals for old-school mainframe computers)
Networking Solutions is similar in concept to MacWindows Virtualization Solutions, which describes different options for running Windows software on Apple Mac hardware.
MacWindows Networking Solutions has been a feature back in our site's founding in 1997, but had been getting a bit long in the tooth in recent years. The new revamped page contains nearly all-new content with descriptions of the latest versions of products that enable Macs and Windows to work together on networks.
Developers are not charged a fee to appear on the Network Solutions listings. If you don't see your software listed here, or if you know of a product that isn't listed at Network Solutions
We're looking for integration-enabling products, not just software that is available for both platforms. We also welcome any other feedback.
