I have a windows based server with a storage drive on it. that one is full, I bought a new unit and want to copy all the files over, however windows will not copy the files that end with just a .(dot). I can copy one file over at a time using the \\?\ however that would take forever. Does anyone know how I can mass copy all the files and folders including those weird files that end is just the dot from one windows storage to another?

there are lots of ways to lose while doing what you're doing. I'd start by
using "exactfile" to make an independent checksum and census of the files
you're moving.

you could try zipping the files and moving the zipped files. Watch out for NTFS
hidden streams, Snow Leopard will use them and zip doesn't know about them...

Another approach would be to rename all the offending files, then rename
them back. Bulk rename utility might work for this.

Another approach would be to use the mac to move the files from one
pc to another. Slow, but it might not have problems above.

Hmm I like the zip file idea, I think I will give that a shot, tho not sure what you mean about hidden streams. I do not think any of the macs on the network are running snow leopard yet. Not sure of any renaming programs that will let you leave everything after the . blank. I know the files are good, ive moved them over using the \\?\ but you can only do one at a time.
