Get a strange error where a mounted smb share on a Mac will suddenly drop off and connecting back up the server becomes difficult (starts throwing errors like server cannot be reached etc.).

Tried adding the Mac to AD, authenticating with admin on the server, and root account on the mac. Same same…… after an hour or two (presumably an 'idle time') it just drops off.

Obviously a pain to troubleshoot as we can only really do one or two troubleshooting steps per day.

Got it happening in our office with an identical environment… Vmware ESXi host, SBS2011 server, Mac OS X Lion workstation (was doing the same on Snow Leopard).

Here is the log from the console on the mac in my office:

19/09/11 11:21:59.757 AM KernelEventAgent tid 00000000 received event(s) VQ_DEAD (32)
19/09/11 11:21:59.757 AM KernelEventAgent tid 00000000 type 'smbfs', mounted on '/Volumes/RedirectedFolders', from '//Peter.Moriarty@', dead
19/09/11 11:21:59.757 AM KernelEventAgent tid 00000000 force unmount //Peter.Moriarty@ from /Volumes/RedirectedFolders
19/09/11 11:21:59.758 AM KernelEventAgent tid 00000000 found 1 filesystem(s) with problem(s)

Each classification is further divided up into Fifa Coins Normal, Unusual and In Type. Look at the following image which shows one of each for brown, precious metal. Normal is a standard card, rare means it is just that and more useful.
