Have a mac on 10.6.6 which is connected to a share on a Windows Server 2003. Majority of the time the file access is fine, but every now and then when deleting files, the progress bar will freeze, not do anything and lock the folder. The only way out of it is to reboot the mac.

Does anyone have any ideas please?

Just bit of a bump on this really. Been doing some more work with this client today and managed to get the mac logged in using the windows account but still hangs while trying to delete folders off a windows share. Deleting individual files appear to be ok, just bulk folders

ok think I have found the fault. Looking inside the share on the server there are a lot of hidden files all prefixed ._

Once I remove these on the server, the user is then able to delete the files. What I obviously need to find out is how these are created and somehow of bulk removing them

I have been having the same issue since upgrading from Leopard to Snow Leopard. I am connecting to Windows Server 2008. Tried to delete files today and I get the spinning pinwheel of death! I let it sit for 20 minutes before rebooting. Let me know if anyone finds an answer to this issue.
