I have a windows 7 laptop, asus router.
I want to add an airport express to this network to play music over my hifi system.

How do I make the connection to the airport express stable. Sometime,s after many resets and attempts I manage to make a connection, it will work for a while and then the connection is lost.
I notice the AE reboots itself frequently (every 2 minutes or so) when the green light changes into an amber flash for a few seconds.
Also, my Norton firewall does detect the AE: it appears in the network map. But, iTunes and the Airport Setup utility cannot detect it.
The AE claims it has the latest firmware, laptop is about 1 year old.

Any tips?

Read the manual for Airport Express carefully.

Do you only want to use the AE for streaming music or for the main WLAN? What modell of Asus router do you have?

Take look here:
This gets you much more use of the AE. :)

Good luck
