I am thinking of going back to Entourage 2008 but whenever I try to import my messages/mailboxes from Apple Mail, it fails and Entourage generates a Mail import folder that's empty.

Can't this be done? Using 10.7.4 and trying to get going with Entourage 2008.

It's unfortunately not natively supported. You need to drag the e-mails
to a folder in the Finder, then import them (you can use drag and drop
again) back into Outlook.

or

If you are comfortable with the use of application then here is one that I have used and have been successful with it every time
Apple mail to outlook

Or you can google search here for the best results: Export Apple Mail to Outlook for Mac 2011

Hope it helps.
