| Post subject: | Outlook 2003 Exchange Server Messages Do Not Stay in iPhone |
I am running a PC (windows vista) configured with an Exchange Server email for Outlook 2003 (via my place of employment). Messages that arrive to me via the Exchange Server are kept on my PC in Outlook, but as soon as they are downloaded there, they leave my iPhone mail inbox. How does one get the messages to stay in both (or more) places? Thanks very much. -work. |

This is a "feature" of the IMAP protocol. (Though features are often in the eye of the beholder.) One thing you can do is set up a POP3 account on the Exchange Server and use that to log in from the iPhone. Thanks. Just to be clear, i should set up the account on my iPhone as POP3? I read the other post related to this for iPad, and i'm just a bit confused as i have other accounts on my phone (6 of them, actually) and aside from gmail, the rest of them are IMAP and I don't have this issue with the server. My messages all stay on my phone until i open and read them in Outlook on my laptop. The ones from gmail and IMAP accounts stay on the server (webmail), outlook, and the phone. The Exchange account emails only stay on the laptop and disappear off the phone and webmail. Your help is much appreciated. |

Yes, I am saying that you should try settting up an POP3 account on Exchange Server, an then configuring the iPhone as POP3 for that account. It's been reported that Exchange has some issues with IMAP in general. Thanks. I'll see what I can do, but the Exchange Server is administered by the university where I teach with 4000 students and faculty - probably not an easy thing to shift. The IT guys are the ones who set up my outlook on my machine, so they blame it on my machine instead of their setup - but i'll forward your link and see what happens. Thanks again. |
