| Post subject: | Managed computers issue |
RESOLVED: An Apple TSC and a member of the CE team got personally involved and scrutinized everything. Seems the problem was with a false computer object with the same macAddress was causing the test client to fail. This was either causing the other clients to fail as well or they were false failures. Lesson 1: Clean up your computer objects. Lesson 2: It may take multiple restarts/shutdowns for the MCX Preferences to apply to a computer client. I am having an interesting issue. I am attempting to manage my organization's Macs with AD. I have extended my 2008 R2 schema per the Apple white papers and everything looks great. I had an Technical Services Consultant from Apple on hand for the schema modification. Unfortunately, he wasn't here long and we neglected to do full testing. Users and Groups managed preferences work flawlessly. The problem is with Computer and ComputerList managed preferences. I am able set managed settings on the computers without issue and I have confirmed that the settings are transferring to the AD via the ADPlugin. They are just not applying to the OS X machines at all. The strange thing is that my "guest" record management setting are working fine. Any management changes I apply to the "guest" record pass to the clients just fine. When I apply management directly to the computer object or the computer list nothing happens, even the "guest" settings disappear. Pretty frustrated so any advice would be great. |
