John Gilbert has the problem where Snow Leopard clients bound to Active Directory get stuck in screen saver mode (http://www.macwindows.com/snowleopardAD.html#040210g). Two readers previously said that Apple support article TS3287 fixed the problem. Gilbert reports that it didn't for him. But he found another Apple Tech support article, TS3248, that did. This fix is to lengthen the default timeout for .local name lookups by editing an info.plist file. Gilbert reports:
I seem to have the symptoms described in your tip of 2 April 2010. The Apple fix made no difference. What did help was another Apple fix: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3248. This is one of the problems related to having an AD domain which ends in .local.

If you've tried this, please post a response.
