Scenario: 5 Windows users running WinXP to Win7, all with Microsoft Access, and with the Access front end on their PC's. The backend is on a file server, everyone needs to access the file simultaneously.

Ageing Windows 2003 server is replaced with MacMini server acting at present like an overpriced file server only (there will be a migration over to an all Mac environment once the new database goes cloud based next year)

Everyone has Read/Write permissions on the database.mdb file on the server, HOWEVER when the Mac is used only one person can read the database at a time, they have to close Access before another user can see the data. Move the database back to the older server and everyone can read/write again.

Is this a Mac issue or Access issue? Either way has anyone got any ideas?

Cheers, Douglas
