When running windows 7, my magic mouse doesn't work most of the time. it seems that this is getting worse over time, as before it might tak a little while to work, but now it just ain't happening.
Searching google, I came up with an option that involved disabling the touchpad, but I'd prefer not to do that, as I had lots of problems with a bluetooth mouse on my old dell laptop, that the touchpad would stay disabled, whether I had a mouse connected or not.
Any suggestions?

What version of Boot Camp are you running? Version 3.1 and later support Magic Mouse. Earlier versions don't.
