Thursby Software has released ADmitMac PKI 4.0, a new version of its secure Active Directory integration software for Mac OS X where Common Access Card (CAC), Personal Identity Verification (PIV), or similar smart cards are used to secure access to Windows networks. The new version provides true two-factor authentication with CAC and PIV smart cards in Lion. Upgrades to version 4 are available for free to all customers under a current support contract.
ADmitMac PKI provides Active Directory single sign-on and support of group policies, public key infrastructure, and virtual private networking. It also supports Microsoft DFS and SMB/CIFS file sharing. ADmitMac PKI includes deployment tools but does not require lock-in to any proprietary new server-based software, while having the ability to support hundreds of thousands of Macs, according to Thursby Software.
