TIP: Windows 7 Home setting for accessing OS X Server
Wednesday, January 9, 2013
Dustin Todd sent in a tip for configuring Windows 7 Home for accessing OS X Server. He responded to our tip "Win 7 settings for accessing Mac OS X Server," which is for Windows 7 Ultimate. Todd said that this wouldnÕt work in Windows 7 Home, and offered a registry edit for it:
I have a suggestion to add to "Win 7 settings for accessing Mac OS X Server." On Windows 7 Home there is no secpol.msc so you need to edit the registry. Here are the two keys that the Secpol changes:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa Change or add LmCompatibilityLevel (REG_DWORD) to 1 (Hexadecimal)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0 Change NtlmMinClientSec from 20000000 (Hexadecimal) to 0
