Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac is lets you seamlessly run Windows and Mac applications side-by-side

Running Parallels on OS X Mavericks DP and New MacBook Air

Parallels Desktop Build 8.0.18494 is a new version of the virtualization software of Mac OS X, which adds support OS X 10.9 Mavericks Developer Preview and for the new MacBook Air (referred to as "mid-2013").

Without the update, Parallels Desktop will produce error messages when attempting to run a virtual machine on a Mac with Mavericks Developer Preview as the host OS. Parallels, however, refers to Mavericks support as "experimental."

Parallels Desktop 8.0.18494 can also run OS X Mavericks Developer Preview in a virtual machine as a guest OS. The procedure for creating such a virtual machine is the same as usual, except that the video memory for the virtual machine needs to be set at 128 MB. (3D Acceleration and Enable Verticle Synchronization need to be on.) To access the correct settings window, select the virtual machine and select Virtual Machine menu> Configure > Hardware > Video.

The update is available from within Parallels Desktop (by selecting Check for Updates in the Parallels Desktop menu.)

Apple released OS X 10.9 Mavericks Developer Preview 1 on June 10 to members of Apple's Developer Program. Apple released The MacBook Air (Mid 2013) the same day.
