Reader verifies tip for manual load of VMware Fusion daemons
Monday, March 25, 2013
Enda Farrell of Berlin verified a procedure in for preventing VMware Fusion daemons from running at Mac startup and starting them manually when needed. The tip uses a short shell script that has the daemons stop when Fusion is quit. The original tip put the code in Automator, but Farrell just types it in Terminal:
My Mac's way too busy all the time to have unwanted daemons running and as I don't often use VMware I had removed (by hand) all of the VMware daemons from startup. Then two months later I wanted to use VMware and lo-and-behold nothing works. If you're tried thisThen I found your site. Then I tried:
sudo /Library/Application\ Support/VMware\ Fusion/boot.sh --start
open -W /Applications/VMware\ Fusion.app
sudo /Library/Application\ Support/VMware\ Fusion/boot.sh --stop
It works. Thank you.
