Parallels update fixes Outlook bugs, installs Windows 8.1 Preview

Parallels recently released Parallels Desktop for Mac version 8.0.1608, a maintenance update that fixes some problems running Outlook 2013 for Windows, eliminating visual artifacts and fixing a problem opening the Contact Card. The update also enables the installation of Windows 8.1 Preview using the Express Installation feature.

Parallels says that the update also provides improved 3D graphics performance with certain games, including World of Tanks, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Some games are also more stable. Other fixes include smoother mouse scrolling in guest operating systems running in virtual machines.

The update can be installed by downloading a full copy of Parallels Desktop from the Parallels website or from within the application itself.

Parallels Desktop 8 sells for US $80 and runs on Mac OS X 10.6.8 through 10.8. There is "experimental" support for OS X 10.9 Developer Preview.
