Parallels has updated Parallels Desktop 7
and Parallels Mobile for iOS devices to take advantage of Apple's high-resolution Retina display, used in Apple's highest-end MacBook Pro and on current iOS devices. Both now work with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. Parallels Desktop is virtualization software that enables Windows to run on Macs. Parallels Mobile enables iOS users to access Windows installed in a virtual machine on a Mac.
For the Mac, Parallels released three quick updates that introduced and improved Retina support. The most recent is Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac Build 15106. Other improvements include better support for Windows 8, support for USB 3.0 devices in virtual machines, and the ability to use IMG disc images as virtual machine CD/DVDs. There are also improvements with running several distributions of Linux in virtual machines.
The retail price of Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac is $80; a student edition is available for $40. The Parallels Mobile app is available in the iOS App Store at a special price of $5 for a limited time; the standard retail price is $20. If you've tried the new versions of Parallels Desktop or Mobile
