Group Logic has released a new file sharing solution called activeEcho, which the company sees as an alternative to DropBox, but with features aimed at enterprise. activeEcho provides sharing and collaborating on files as well as synching files between Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, and Android devices. activeEcho uses LDAP for authenticating users, and can integrate with Active Directory for permission access. activeEcho can be deployed in a public cloud or in on-site file servers. Files are https-encrypted for transfer and encrypted using AES-128 and AES-256 when in storage.
Administrators can also blacklist or whitelist any user at any time. For instance, activeEcho supports excluding certain files from being shared to or from a Gmail address, and can or blocking specified files from being uploaded. Everything that is shared is logged for IT administrators, so potential security breaches can be prevented and tracked.
Group Logic said that activeEcho's user interface is simple and is similar to the user experience of DropBox. Users can have access to email notifications of change in status such as the arrival of files.
